July 4th, 2011Celebrations! $50k came our way today!
Here it is folks! The BIG FAT CHEQUE! A HUGE THANK YOU to all that nominated us in the first place and to all that voted and spread the word (especially Karen with all those flyers and overseas animal supporters :-) Another huge thanks to The Palms and The Breeze! Amazing, we are so thrilled. This money is all going to our expansion projects - which includes a new isolation block of kennels. The support that Dogwatch received during this campaign has been overwhelming! Not just nationally, but internationally as well! We are very humbled and honoured by your support. Power to the puppies (and dogs)!

June 25th, 2011bon voyage
Photos from today, Saturday 25 June 2011. Loved family dogs and rescued dogs leave Christchurch for a fresh start in Wellington. Lots of tears as goodbyes are said. The dogs are all loaded into crates with lots of blankets and are given chews and toys (the big black Lab sure loved the treats!). Water bowls are filled and loaded with rescue remedy, all settled and off they go - 25 in total.
A huge thank you to Carolyn and Jim from HUHA animal sanctuary for so generously coming to Christchurch at such short notice.
Carolyn phoned not long after they left Dogwatch to say they had stopped at a petrol station and that the dogs were all settled and quiet - this was good to hear.

June 24th, 2011RELIEF FOR SOME CHCH DOGS
http://www.dogwatch.co.nz/newsletters/newsletter71.htm
With last Monday's strong aftershocks, we have had increased calls from stressed owners of much loved dogs desperately trying to find new homes for them. Many people are leaving town/the country and cannot take their pets with them or are moving into homes where pets are not allowed.
HUHA Santuary in Wellington were very concerned to hear of the dogs needing help and they are waiting at the Ferry in Wellington to come to Christchurch as I type! They were to depart Wellington at 5pm, but the Ferry has broken down (would you believe it!) and they have been held up by several hours, but still coming! They will be arriving at our kennels tomorrow to take approximately 25 dogs back to Wellington where there are already wonderful homes awaiting many of them. Others will go into loving and experienced foster homes. They have a qualified behaviourist available for any dogs with special needs.
Pictured below is Ruby, a little Foxy, the look in Ruby's eyes says alot, she has been living in terror since the September quake. Ruby is one of the dogs leaving Christchurch for Wellington tomorrow.
HUHA Santuary have the same re-homing values as Dogwatch and we will also be sending 5 young dogs away with them.
Be watching Campbell Live (TV 3 at 7pm) there should be a story running tonight about this.
A huge thank you to the team at HUHA Sanctuary and S.A.F.E. for their support.

June 12th, 2011New Van!
Stephen Horrell of Total Bin supplies is very generously sponsoring a new van for Dogwatch to lease. Our old truck was very near to retirement so this could not have come at a better time, we have received many compliments, lots of staring and second looks from the public. Stephen has been a friend and supporter of Dogwatch now for several years as well as helping several other charities. So if you see our new van out and about give us a toot to say hello.
Please support our sponsors
