FAQ

How is Dogwatch funded?
We are totally self funded. Money is raised through grants, donations and legacies.

Our second hand variety shop in New Brighton is a major source of funding
for the rescue kennels.

How long do you keep a dog?
For however long it may take.

Sometimes we find them a home in the first week, others may be with us for several months before the right owner comes along.

What does it cost?
The adoption fee is $200 plus registration (includes micro-chipping). The adoption fee helps towards the cost of de-sexing, vaccination, collar and worming.

Due to vaccination requirements, puppies under 16 weeks of age are $250 plus registration.

Dogwatch is a registered CHARITABLE TRUST (registration number CC30434).

Donations are always welcome and appreciated!

Is there a trial period?
You are given a one week trial period in which to get to know your dog.

All our dogs are temperament tested and matched up to the new owner. A one week trial is given with all dogs except puppies.

At the end of the week's trial, if for any reason it is not working out for you or the dog, we will take the dog back for re-homing and there is a refund of adoption fees.

Return of a dog to Dogwatch (except within terms of pre-arranged trials) is possible only in special circumstances, after consultation and subject to other commitments.

Please remember that once the dog is transferred over to your name, the dog then becomes your responsibility, legally and morally.
